Five for Friday- Firefighter fun and etc

Happy Friday!  Linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching to share my Five for Friday!
Wednesday was, according to one of my kiddos, "the best day of my life"!  We had a firefighter visit from the wonderful Alexandria Fire Department!  They were wonderful!  We had a program in the classroom (we went over to a neighbor's room), which included seeing a firefighter in full gear breathing through their oxygen tank, AND then going outside to see 2 firetrucks and an ambulance.  AND we got to walk through them! AMAZING!!

We painted our coffee filters for our flowers and then cut them out.  The kids LOVED it! They were so excited to paint.  I forgot to take a picture of the actual flowers, so will do next week.

This is my new friend.  He started last week, and, while he does know all his letters and most of his letter sounds, he has never been to school before...  It's September for him and April for everyone else and I'm having trouble adjusting to this...  BUT he is slowly getting into our routine and learning how to follow directions.  He did really well at this activity- look at the word, build it with the letter cards, write it in your journal.

We started learning how to play Flip 5 today.  They LOVED it, just like every year :-)  I also LOVE this game.  Next week we will play Flip 5 and Flip 10.

Today the PE teachers arranged a GIANT dance party to show off the moves the kids have been learning in PE for their dance unit.  We gathered on the blacktop outside and danced.  It was amazing to see 150 kinders do the chicken dance, cha cha slide, and other wonderful dances!  I wish I could show you the videos, but too many privacy issues unfortunately.  It was great!!!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!! Now jump back over to Doodle Bugs Teaching for more Five for Friday fun!!

  1. Hi Heather,

What a great week you had! It's so exciting when the police or fire comes to our schools isn't it? I look forward to seeing what your flowers will look like. Are you making a bulletin board or sending them home?
