We've got alot to cover in the next 4 days friends! And a possible delay or snow day tomorrow?? Yikes! I'm linking up with Deedee from Mrs. Will's Kindergarten for a Peek at my Week!
This week we will cover- predicting, float and sink, telling addition and subtraction stories, rhyming, and learning about/writing about polar bears! Whew! I'm tired just writing it... But very excited to teach it all.
For predicting we have been using Tacky the Penguin books but this week we will go off theme for a couple great books. My favorite of the two is definitely Wolf's Coming!!
Look at that cover! It's just amazing! The author does a great job of tricking kids into thinking the wolf is going to eat everyone, but actually, it's his birthday party! YAY! lol I know the kids are going to be so surprised.
Here are the plans:
I'm feeling so conflicted about tomorrow- do I actually want a delay or snow day with all we have to do ?!?!? BAH!
Hope you have a great week everyone. Happy Teaching!

Five for Friday- January 23
It's Friday, it's Friday!! Oh, so excited that the week is over. AND I'm finally linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday!
I bought those really cool finger lasers back on Cyber Monday. After winter break, the kids had to win 10 tickets to get them. They get tickets for walking Hip and Lip in the hallway, working at their centers, being ready on the carpet, etc. It took them 11 days, 11 DAYS! Ugh... This class... AND 3/4 of them don't even work!! WHAT?! I am going to contact the company I bought them from- so MAD. But we started using them yesterday and they are really cool!
So, I said I was going to be better at blogging, and I haven't been. But we also moved 2 weeks ago and have been slowly getting this place together, so I use that as my excuse... We are across the river now in Alexandria, VA and I get to walk the dog along the Potomac every day which is pretty nice!
It snowed HUGE flakes on Wednesday! It was beautiful! Nothing stuck to the ground, just melted right away but we went outside and played in it. It looked so cool to just stand and look up- all the kids said it looked like they were flying!
We started talking about telling addition and subtraction stories. When I pretested them (does anyone else have to do this in K?!? It's takes up so much time! Just them me test them after, you know!!) they told some really good stories, but not math stories- they had me laughing! But they are getting REALLY good at it! And I love this little freebie winter story telling mat from A Differentiated Kindergarten!
One of my fabulous team members bought me and my hubby a move in present :-) She's so awesome! Everything to make some delicious spaghetti, an adult beverage, and even an antler for the dog!
I recently joined Instagram and am posting pictures of our hard work in the classroom! You can find me @thelandofican. Now jump back over to Doodle Bugs Teaching for more Five for Friday fun! Happy Weekend!

Peek at my Week- Water and Winter!
Wow! My 2 weeks off felt like a month and I NEEDED it :-) I am feeling refreshed and reinvigorated and ready to tackle the next 5 1/2 months. (or at least the next 1...) I am also feeling excited about blogging again! So hopefully that will stick and I will do some actual posting. I'll start with linking up with Deedee from Mrs. Wills Kindergarten for a Peek at my Week!
This week we will start learning about water- the states of matter, doing lots of experiments, collecting facts, and eventually writing an all about book together. Luckily it's going to be super duper cold on Thursday, so we are going to try to freeze water outside our window! It worked out last year so heres to hoping for success this year too.
We'll start our investigation by seeing a Prezi all about water and its states. I had to make it for a grad class a couple years ago. You can check it out HERE.
I'm also excited because my centers with have a wonderful winter theme for the next month! I LOVE winter and snow and everything that goes along with all that so it makes me happy to see it all over the classroom. You can see the wonderful winter themed centers on my plans, which are here:
The only thing I don't have ready is my listening center. I usually pick the book out the Friday before and that was NOT happening right before break, so it will happen in the morning. :-) Hope you all had a very restful break and get off to a good start in January. Happy Teaching!
