Five for Friday- Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween friends!  I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday!

This week we started talking about addition and used dominoes in our exploration.  We are teaching addition in a totally new way through our new math curriculum- we will see the results as time goes on.

We also learned all about bats this week, which they LOVED!  And I did too.  Then we did the Going Batty craftivity by A Cupcake for Teacher and I hung them around the room for this morning.

We had our first Top Table Points winner this week!!  The blue table was the first to 10 points and got to use the special bin with the markers, pens, colored pencils, and stickers.  It was very exciting!

On Wednesday I came home to this:

I walked in and was like "Huh, I wonder why husband put all the shoes away" only to find out that he had not!!  2 pairs of my shoes and 1 pair of his flip flops destroyed!  So sad...

We finally cut open our pumpkins to explore the insides!  We did it at the very end of the day and had a blast!!

Hope you all made it through the craziness of Halloween!  Jump back over to Doodle Bugs Teaching for more Five for Friday fun.  Happy Weekend!

Five for Friday FINALLY!

I am FINALLY doing a Five for Friday post for the first time this school year!!!  I never have time to take pictures because of the special friend in my room  (who is not yet classified as special at this point), but I made sure to do it this week!  I also am usually so tired and sick of it by Friday that I don't care- BUT I have the strength and the will this week.  So, I am very happy to say that I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday!!
I got pied in the face this week for our PBIS program!  It was awesome!  There were 10 of us total.  Only problem was that I think the first grader who pied me was VERY NERVOUS so she didn't smash it much, just a light touch to the face.

We have been working on retelling stories with a beginning, middle, and end.  These ladies were discussing a book in order to Give me 5 about it.

We were working on more, fewer, and the same this week in math and our new math curriculum (Math Expressions) begins teaching it through graphing, which we have never done before.  It was great though!  We made a huge floor graph about their favorite toy to play with and then discussed it.

We also played a tower game to compare numbers.  They did such a great job using their math vocabulary!

Friday we investigated pumpkins using our 5 Senses and used words to describe each, except taste...  The kids loved it.

Happy weekend everyone!  Make sure you head back to Doodle Bugs Teaching for more Five for Friday fun!

A Peek at my Week- Pumpkin Week 2

Happy Sunday everyone.  I'm linking up with Deedee from Mrs. Will's Kindergarten for a Peek at my Week!

This coming week is another pumpkin week.  But we won't be cutting them open till the week of Halloween just to keep the anticipation high!!

On Tuesday I will be getting pied in the face for our PBIS program! I am actually VERY excited for this.  My kids have been working hard (on most days) to earn what we call Runner Bucks in order this to happen and I will be 1 of 10 teachers to do it.  You may think 10 is alot, but when you have like 80 staff members, it's not very many.

In other news, my students have been waaaaaaay more successful after I SLOWED things down.  1 step directions are the key right now and it is definitely helping!  I also have to slow down the content just a little.  So, instead of moving on to a new book this week to discuss beginning, middle, and end we will reread a book from last week AND read The Three Little Pigs which they already heard at the listening center.  I think keeping things familiar will add to their success. (heres to hoping!!!)

Here are the plans:

Hope you all have a great week. Happy Teaching!

Halloween CVC Spelling Game

I actually created something today! I haven't created something for TPT in .... 5 months?!?!?! Crazy long time!  I had big plans for this summer buuuuuuuuuuut, that never actually happened.

I have a bunch of different themed versions of my Spell It CVC Spelling Game and here is the latest:

Here's how it works:  Spell It can either be a teacher led or student led literacy center. Students will hear a word, spell it on their spelling mat, and get points for each word spelled correctly. First to 10 points wins!

My kiddos last year absolutely LOVED playing this game!  And while my kiddos this year aren't quite ready for it, I know it will be a big hit again when they ARE ready.

You can find it on TPT HERE and it will be ON SALE until sometime after I wake up on Saturday morning.  Enjoy and Happy Teaching!!

Peek at my Week- Pumpkins AND slowing it down...

A new week and new set of plans!  Linking up with Deedee from Mrs. Will's Kindergarten for a Peek at my Week!
This week (and next week!!) we are moving on to pumpkins!  I am so excited.  I love apples and pumpkins and love this time of year and teaching about them.  We are very lucky again this year to be getting free pumpkins from a local nursery- LOVE them! So we will be investigating those this week but hitting it hard next week.

In other news, I feel as though I have a turned a corner with my class.  I had a message from the big man upstairs to SLOW DOWN and it has changed everything.  I realized that my students CANNOT follow multi step directions SO I have stopped giving them.  We are taking it slow but steady and that way they can be successful and I feel calm and happy!  Win Win!

Here are the plans:

Enjoy your week.  Happy Teaching!

Peek at my Week- Apples Apples Apples!

Happy Sunday friends!  I'm linking up with Deedee at Mrs. Will's Kindergarten for a Peek at my Week!
I'm very excited for our 2nd week of Apples!  The kids are going to be SICK of apples by the end of the week we're doing so much with them.  It's going to be great!  Apple poem, taste test, life cycle, describing with our 5 senses, making applesauce, and apple books!!

Here are the plans:

Hope you have fun things planned for this week too! Happy Teaching!
